Hackathon Terms and Conditions

The Walrus Devnet Hackathon: Breaking the Ice (the "Hackathon"), organized and sponsored by Mysten Labs, Inc. (the "Organizer" or "we" or "us"), is a community driven hackathon intended for collaboration and learning in the Walrus ecosystem beginning August 13. The overarching goal of the Hackathon is to foster developer engagement with Walrus devnet (the "Network") resulting in the deployment and launch of high quality and durable projects on the Network (each, a "Project").

By registering for or participating in the Hackathon, you agree to the following Hackathon Terms and Conditions (these "Terms"), the Organizer's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (collectively, the "Event Terms") as they all apply to your participation in the Hackathon. Capitalized terms used herein shall have the meanings ascribed to them in the Event Participation Terms and Conditions unless otherwise defined herein.

2. Hackathon Eligibility

  • You must register to participate in the Hackathon. Project teams will register by providing the required information requested from the Airtable form. Please visit the Breaking the Ice registration form to register.
  • Please note the following additional eligibility requirements for your submitted project ("Project") and team members ("Team"):
    • Your Project must be deployed on the Network's devnet
    • Project must include a video demo/presentation that is uploaded to Walrus devnet
    • Project submission must be accessible via a Walrus site
    • All static content for your Project must be stored on Walrus
    • Project must have a Github public repo
    • Your Team must cast one or more votes during the main pool voting period if you are shortlisted.
    • Your Team must be the age of majority in your jurisdiction of residence.
    • Projects shall not add illicit content or personally identifiable information to Walrus devnet during the Hackathon.
    • Each member of your Team must pass a KYC verification conducted by the Organizer or one of its service providers in order to receive rewards.

3. Additional Terms

  • The contest is null and void in any jurisdiction where prohibited by law.
  • The Organizer reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify or terminate the Hackathon in whole or in part at any time without prior notice. Rewards may be denominated in any currency at the organizers’ discretion. We may change or modify the amounts or types of rewards and/or discontinue, or terminate, temporarily or permanently, all or any part of the rewards program at any time and without notice, and we may remove or re-allocate any rewards earned by any participant or elect not to provide any rewards to any participant. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to disqualify any individual we find to be acting in violation of these terms, to be acting in an unethical or disruptive matter, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, as we determine in our sole discretion.
  • Eligibility for rewards are subject to applicable law, "know your customer," and sanctions compliance requirements, and is contingent upon providing certain identifying and related information about you and your organization.
  • We reserve the right to block any participant's access to the contest or rewards for any reason.
  • You are responsible for the payment of all taxes associated with your receipt of any rewards. You agree to provide us with any additional information and complete any required tax or other forms relating to your receipt of such rewards.
